Technology

Technology is a broad concept that deals with the knowledge and usage of tools and crafts. The term technology can also be applied to different fields involving machines, utensils, hardware, systems, organizational methods, techniques, and many other specific and general areas of use. In general, technology can be defined as the relationship that exists between society and its crafts and tools.

Computers

Computers are machines that store and manipulate data. They are preset with lists of instructions, according to which they perform their work. Modern computers are more capable than the computers of the past and perform work exponentially faster. Laptops are becoming more and more common and function similar to desktop computers but are portable and occupy less space.

Personal computers have become important with the advancement of information technology. However, there are also other forms of computers, like embedded computers, which are simple and small devices embedded into other devices.

Communications

Communication is the process of transferring information from one person to another using some form of communication medium. There are many different forms of communication mediums available today. One such example is toll free phone numbers, which are given to customers so they can reach a company free of cost.

Another communication medium is conference calls, which are phone calls where more than two people can participate. Video conferencing is an advanced form that allows long distance communication between two or more parties through video conferencing.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is another form of communication that can be used to communicate to any part of the world via the Internet. All you need is a computer with access to the Internet and VOIP software installed.

Hardware

There are many types of hardware available for business and home needs. For instance, a server is an important piece of hardware in a computer network. It acts as the central hub of a network and stores information that can be accessed by multiple devices. Other networking hardware includes routers, bridges, switches, and network cards. Hardware is more than the components that comprise a network. It also includes data storage and other computer technology that runs our daily lives.

Software

For a business to run smoothly, there are many kinds of software that it needs. There is software to maintain records about accounts, sales, contacts, clients, customers, and much more. For example, a company can manage all of its accounts using accounting and financing software. Or, to maintain records about assets, a company can use asset management software.

There is also software that can help develop a business and take it to the next level. A few examples are business intelligence software, business planning software, and customer relationship management software. For data gathering and storage there is data acquisition software, data security software, and data recovery software.

Performance management software, process management software, project management software, prototyping software, and real estate software are some of the other types of software that are used in many businesses to plan and manage various activities.
